Follow these steps to test your sensor:
1. Finish setting up the sensor (pair, set location and description, sync Wi-Fi, and add contacts)
Please note that neither the audible alarm nor the SMS/email notifications will work until installation is complete.
2. Move your sensor to the desired location
It is important to make sure that the desired area has a reliable Wi-Fi signal since the sensor needs Wi-Fi to communicate with our systems and send you notifications.
3. Hold your finger on the metal contacts for 10-15 seconds to simulate a leak
Locate the metal contacts - these are the two thin metal strips located along the bottom of the sensor, the same ones you touched during installation to "wake up" the sensor for pairing.
After a few seconds you will hear a few "wake up" beeps, but keep your finger on the metal contacts until it starts emitting a siren-like noise - this is the alarm that occurs when a leak is detected.
4. Listen for the alarm
Remove your finger from the metal contacts to stop the alarm. It is important to remember that the sensor will not release an audible alarm unless installation has been completed correctly. So if you have held your finger on the contacts for over 15 seconds without hearing the alarm, go back and double check that you finished setting the sensor up.
5. Confirm that you are receiving notifications
Shortly after the alarm begins you will receive a SMS and/or email notifying you that a leak has been detected. If you receive this notification via SMS or email, then your sensor is ready to go!
